OLA Library and Education Division Committee

November 9, 2004

I.          Call to Order

Meeting was called to order by Barbara Ray at 10:00 am. In attendance: Barbara Ray, Rita Howell, Melissa Huffman, Barbara Miller, Helen Clements, David Oberhelman, Tori Gregory, and Danny Wallace.

II. Approval of Minutes

            Minutes were approved.

III. Old Business

Update on Conference plans

Barbara is having problems contacting Jane Bowerman. David will try to contact her. The LED meeting for conference will be on Friday, at 3:30 p.m. Barbara asked Kay to send an updated list on all LED members.

Workshop February 11 and March 11

·      OASLMS will sponsor with us. Barbara will contact the chair of the Public Library Division to help with contact names for the workshop. Discussion of the handout and workshop followed. Barbara will send out the flyer to us with corrections for approval. There was further discussion about the evaluation form.

·      Discussion followed on available grant money from AMIGOS for collaboration efforts on the project.

·      We need to mention for librarians to attend regional meetings.

·      Strategies were discussed for including School Media Specialists on mailing lists instead of bypassing through to English Teacher.

IV. New Business

Student papers

The deadline was extended to December 8.

Speaker for LED January Meeting

Suliman Hawamdeh will speak on knowledge management. We will combine with UCD for a joint meeting. Meeting date will be announced later. Possible location - Schusterman Center in Tulsa.

Chair Elect and Secretary for next year

Barbara Miller will run for Chair-elect. Tori Gregory will run for secretary.

V.   Other Business

            Basket for All Conference Event. Bring items to next meeting. Tori will collect basket     items. The theme is sewing/crafts.
