OLA Library and Education Division Committee
September 14, 2004


I.    Call to Order
Meeting was called to order by Barbara Ray at 10:10 am.  In attendance: Barbara Miller,  Helen Clements, Tori Gregory, David Oberhelman, Barbara Ray,  Rita Howell.

II.    Approval of Minutes
Minutes were corrected by Tori Gregory.  Under Item V, New Business, the change was made to read  . . . the use of Yahoo for group information.  The location for the next     meeting on October 12 has been changed to Norman Public Schools Instructional     Services Center.

III.    Old Business

Comments on Web Page

Web Page looks good.  Instructional programs in the state are linked.  Barbara recommends we add links to list serves and also include good academic instructional sites.

LED Programs for Conference

Barbara turned in our requests to the OLA Board for approval.  The Membership Committee and LED can co-sponsor a student paper for conference.  Barbara has presentation guidelines that can be followed.  Two LED programs were discussed.  “Library Instruction - a team approach”, which will be a synopsis of our February workshop.  “Learning Styles”  by Jane Bowerman.  

Workshop February 11 and March 11

These are the only days available for the workshops.  NSU - BA will be the location for Feb. 11.  Possibilities for the March 11 workshop are Durant, Stillwater Public, or Rose State.  Discussion followed about the flyer.  Title of workshop will be  “ Connecting all libraries in your community for better instruction”.   Break out session will be in the AM, wrap up in PM.  3 facilitators will be Barbara Miller, Melissa Huffman, and Helen Clements

IV:    New Business
Basket ideas for conference

The baskets will have a medieval and spinning theme.  A recommendation was a sewing basket including crafts, knitting, and crochet hooks.
