Meeting was called to order by President Elect Jon Woltz at 1:15 P.M.

Approval of Minutes

Minutes of February Meeting were not available.

Annual Report:

Jon handed out the annual report of the Division, which was approved unanimously. This report did appear in the Annual Conference materials.

Committee Reports

 

Workshop Planning Committee-Report by Sheila Johnson

The mailing announcing the upcoming workshop is out. The committee is finalizing the plans for the workshop. The speakers met at OLA to discuss topics and are planning a conference call on the 15th to finalize the topics. Sheila will look into having the flyer added to the web page.

 

Conference Committee

The evaluations have not yet been received. The poster and paper sessions were well attended. They seemed to address a need. The Division will likely continue these for next year.

Library Support for Distance Learners is another pre-conference and it is co-sponsored by the University and College Division and the OCALD (Oklahoma Council of Academic Library Directors). This pre-conference is also scheduled for March 24, 1999. Dr. Richard Madaus, Director, College Center for Library Automation and Chair, Steering Committee for Distance Learning of the Florida Distance Learning Library Initiative will be the presentor and the program will include a reactor panel of university administrators and public and university librarians. This workshop is a repeat of the ACRL workshop held last November.

 

Electronic Communication Committee-No report

Jon plans to send meeting notices to all UCD members, not just relying on the list serv. Membership on the list has fallen lately, and he wants to reach out to more members. If you would like a copy of the email addresses of UCD members, contact Jon.

New Business

New officers

Vice Chair/Chair elect is Peggy Wolfe. Secretary is David Scott.

 

Fall Workshop Ideas

The members discussed a variety of potential topics for a Fall Workshop. One that came up repeatedly was patron authentication, which regards to accessing electronic resources. A tentative date in November was mentioned for placement on the OLA calendar. Carolyn and Dave volunteered to be members of the committee. Jon will search for a chair.

 

Interactive video

Jon would like to hold the June meeting without using interactive video. We will meet at a later date in this fashion.
