Interactive Video
Preliminary Remarks - Tom Biggs
Tom Biggs commented on the historic event of having an
interactive video meeting of the University and College
Division. The message of UCD is that we want to include everyone
as a part of our division. Special thanks should go to Jon Woltz
and David Scott. This is an idea that the executive board is
also excited about. Four sites had participants in this
interactive video meeting: Southwestern Oklahoma State
University, Rose State College, Tulsa Community College and
Western Oklahoma State University.

Committee Reports
- Workshop Committee
- Tom received an e-mail report from Sheila Grant Johnson.
The title of the workshop is Tools for Managing and
Accessing Internet Resources, the date proposed is April
1999 and the site proposed is Rose State College. The
workshop would have three speakers with a panel discussion
and wrap up speaker. This proposed workshop should appeal to
academic, public and school librarians. Tom Biggs will
forward this proposal to the executive board at their
January 15, 1999 meeting and will report back at the next
meeting.
- Conference Committee
- John Rosenhamer reported that the title of the proposed
workshop is "Where is librarianship going?" and
will cover the future of librarianship. Bob Swisher will be
the speaker and it will be at the OLA conference in Enid.
Also Andy Peters will do a pre-conference workshop on HTML.
Bibliographic instruction session on bibliographic
techniques is planned. Finally, adding a session about
interactive video was mentioned as a possibility.

- 7 Poster/Paper sessions (6 OSU and 1 OU)
- Electronic Services Communication Committee
- Tom Biggs commented that the status quo was being
maintained and they have added some additional items.
Suggestions can be e-mailed to Charles
Brooks.
- Nominating Committee
- Jon Woltz mentioned the nomimating committee's slate of
candidates. For Vice-chair/Chair-elect the two candidates
are Retha Robertson from OCU and Peggy Wolfe from OSU. For
Secretary the two candidates are David Robinson from OSU-OKC
and David Scott from SWOSU.
- Salary Survey Committee
- Tom commented that the beginning salary range for
beginning librarians was $20,600 to $36,710.
New Business
- Interactive Video
- Tom commented that interactive video has great potential
and that we need to maintain the impetus gained from this
experience. One participant in the interactive video meeting
commented that we need to include the face to face meetings
in our future meeting as well. Another stated for a desire
for OSU to be an interactive site. Finally, another
commented that we need to work out the bugs in this format
and that these interactive video rooms would probably be
booked during the semester at many sites.
