Workshop on Knowledge Management

The members confirmed: date: Feb. 10, 2006.
Place: Best Western on Skelly in Tulsa
Lunch: $11.00
Registration: Members- $50.00
Non-Members-$100.00
Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Wireless Internet is available at the Best Western. Cathy will inquire as to the price. The group will send Cathy some samples of evaluation sheets from previous workshops. Also, we decided to give a $50.00 gift certificate to Dr. Hawamdeh. Cathy will buy it. LED will be co-sponsoring. We plan to market the Workshop to these organizations:

Special Libraries Association
Greater Oklahoma Health Sciences
Association
Oklahoma Hospital Libraries
Association
Medical Library Association
ACRL, FOLIO, OCALD

We will plan on about 50 participants. Cathy will ask Cokie to contact the OU SLIS alumni. Our target group is medical, special, academic, & possibly also public librarians, MLIS students, & FOLIO. The goal/purpose of the program: to gain a basic understanding of knowledge management and how it can be applied in libraries. To be able to describe and find resources for patrons. Objective: to learn how knowledge management impacts the work of libraries.

Conference program

Federated Searching – Evlyn recruited Beth Freeman to speak about what federated searching is and implementation and use at OSU-Tulsa. Christina will provide a list of libraries which have implemented a federated search product.

Auction basket ideas

Bread and jam, with homemade breads and jams.
Tea for two, with teas, tea pot, tea-related movies, cookies

Buried Treasures

This year, 3 librarians from Tulsa City-County will speak on their collections: Kathy Huber from the Genealogy Center, Sarah Martin from the Hispanic Resource Center, and Theresa Washington from the American Indian Resource Center. Gina Minks set this up before she moved. The group talked about giving minimal gifts to these speakers, like coffee mugs.

Michele and Christina will send the paper and poster session proposals to Kathy for the program planning forms.
