2. Copyright Workshop Planning

Rose State has still some workshop openings. Kay Boies will talk to Sharon Saulmon about distribution of Rose State vs. non Rose State attendees. After November 10, Kay Boies will open empty slots. More advertising will be done then with the help of listservs. Law Schools have been contacted, but registrations so far are mostly from OLA members. **Update: There are spaces at Rose State, but Stillwater and Norman locations are both full as of Nov. 10.**

David Oberhelman will contact Susan Hahn about the option to contact SLA members via listservs. Flyers will be mailed to the directors of the individual Law School Libraries: OU, TU, OCU. A suggestion was made to open the workshops for lawyers only late because the material will be geared toward librarians and library issues.

In terms of a real target group, faculty would benefit from the workshops because of issues in E-Reserves, reading packets, etc.

2a. Transportation is mostly taken care of. UCD will have to provide transportation on Friday December 12, from the Hampton Inn to Rose State. Dr. Gasaway will not require transportation Saturday and Sunday. Cell phone availability for transport aides has been arranged.

b. UCD support staff has to take care of beverages, water, ice, soda, ice chests, tea, etc. Kay Boies will reimburse after expense receipts have been submitted. People from Stillwater will take care of beverages at the Public Library, Michele Seikel will take care of ice.

Morning and afternoon breaks: muffins and fruits in an effort to keep it simple. We can look for bagels but will have to check around. Local UCD members will take care of details. Panera is an option for baked goods in Norman.

Kay Boies will take care of copying the workshop package. We will make provisions for folders and note paper, pens, posted notes.

Volunteers are still needed to help with event logistics. Folders will have filler information, Dr. Gasaway’s workbook provides the content. Michele will do the greeting in Stillwater and hand out name tags, check registration, etc.

3. OLA Conference Papers and Posters Sessions:

David Oberhelman showed time slot grid with 5 current slots. Some sessions begin at 7:30am.

b. Five slots should be sufficient unless Cathy Blackman should get a large number of paper submissions, in that case we will ask for another slot.

c. Friday 18 April 2004, 11:15 a.m. is the slot for “Buried Treasures”. Kay Boies will need names and abstracts, by January, David will get the details. UCD is hoping for a good response from Tulsa SLIS students. Cecelia Brown will contact them. Topics are wide open. After the proposals are submitted, papers will be grouped by topic.

4. Buried Treasures Session

Theresa Miller, will be on board for the “Center for Oklahoma Poets & Writers” and Cyndie Driver from the Greenwood Cultural Center. David will find a speaker for the TU poster session to see who can best describe the collection or we will contact Temple Israel in Tulsa. Some questions remain as to what kind of material can be displayed because of preservation and transportation concerns.

Future “Buried Treasures” ideas: Tahlequah Indian/ Cherokee collections, Jewish Museum in Tulsa. UCD is planning to have ideas ready to report to Kay Boies by November 10.

5. Co-sponsored Programs:

Online tutorials and QuestionPoint. McKiel,NSU, giving a presentation on online tutorials with Flash software, Friday 18April 12:30 to 2 pm.
