University and College Division
September 22, 2004
Rose State College LRC
Midwest City, Oklahoma
Attending the meeting were:

Joan Singleton (Bartlesville Public Library)
Evlyn Schmidt, Chair (OPSU)
Cathy Blackman (Cameron)
Kay Boies (Exec. Director)
Susan Jeffries (NWOSU)
Cathy Van Hoy (ODL)
David Oberhelman (OSU)
Lynn McIntosh (Ardmore Public Library System)
Michele Seikel (OSU)

Minutes Evlyn Schmidt asked for corrections to the
July minutes, and Susan Jeffries was added to the attendees. The
minutes were approved as corrected. Salary Survey
Mary Evans has sent the salary survey out already. The deadline
for responses is Sept. 24th. She has already posted it on the
OLA website. Officer nominations Evlyn asked Cathy
Blackman to chair the Nominating Committee, as Vice-Chair. Kay
Boies gave Evlyn a printout of new members. Nominations are due
to Kay on Dec. 1st. Silent Auction Basket Ideas This
year, smaller baskets that won’t be so expensive and can be
purchased by regular people (poor librarians) are preferred, so
David will coordinate a small basket with the Star Wars theme,
and Evlyn will coordinate the Round Table basket.
Workshop Melissa Huffman has secured the Tom Steed
Center Rooms 203, 205, and the Auditorium for Friday, Jan. 28th.
We will push back the start time to 10:00 in case of bad
weather. Evlyn will present our proposal to the Executive Board
on Oct. 15th for approval.
Cokie spoke to Molly Murphy, and she suggested Pat
Weaver-Myers to do the overview of ILL systems, since she has
done research and written on ILL. Evlyn will contact Pat. Molly
will speak on CLIO. Originally, Marc Carlson of TU was to do a
session on ILL basics for non-ILL people, but Johnny Johnson can
do that. David will ask him to work copyright issues into the
overview, too. Mary Hardin will speak on autographics and ILL in
public libraries. Michele will also ask her to describe the ILL
services that ODL offers. Cheryl Suttles will speak on DOCLINE.
Cathy Blackman or an ILL staffer from Cameron will speak on
ARIEL, and Dana Belcher of East Central will speak on union
listing in Oklahoma.
We will ask all of our presenters to produce handouts or
training materials. Evlyn will suggest that Pat could bring a
map of the OCLC regional groups, to explain the organization. We
should promote the AMIGOS session at OLA in 2005 during the
workshop The members were asked to think about goals and
objectives for the workshop request, and contact David. Melissa
will contact City Bites to cater, and Evlyn will asked Elaina
Stewart to develop the flyer. Our suggested title: “ILL for
Everybody”.

David
said the contributed papers/posters call is out via e-mail and
the web. The deadline to apply is Nov. 12th. Kay wants to know
what we’ll have by Dec. 1st for the conference preview. Cokie
said the SLIS alumni were pleased with the idea of highlighting
the winner of their own paper award, and we want to try to
schedule the winner to read. David will talk with Susan Wright
about this. He wants to promote more papers, particularly
non-academic.
UCD has
been asked to co-sponsor a feng shui session by Beth Avery. The
subtitle is: creating positive relationships between patrons and
the library. The group agreed to co-sponsor.
Preconferenc
Joan
Singleton attended from SMART (Administrative Round Table),
which is co-sponsoring the preconference. Linda will ask Ken
Bierman if he has a preference on a title for it. We could also
ask Linda Edmondson to speak. Evlyn will pursue her. Melissa
Huffman suggested Jean Webb, Dean of Students at Rose State, as
another good speaker. Evlyn will contact Debra Engel about
speaking in the morning. She can ask the Support Staff
Roundtable to participate also. Earlene Piercy (branch manager
of the Davis Public Library), would also be good. They could act
as a panel, and answer questions. Other possibilities for the
panel: Sharlotte Riegel (Ardmore Library System), Carla Hickey
