Meeting was called to order by Chair Jon Woltz at 1:05 P.M.

Approval of Minutes

Minutes of the July meeting were approved as written.

Leadership Update

Retha Robertson has agreed to be the Vice Chair/Chair elect for this year. She has also agreed to be the nominating Committee Chair in place of Tom Biggs.

OCALD Cooperative Collection Development Committee

OCALD in interested in creating some collection development issues on a statewide level. Priorities are a statewide courier service and a group journal acquisitions policy. OCALD is seeking UCD involvement. UCD thinks that OCALD could form their own subcommittee. UCD members could survey their membership for input.

Committee Reports

OLA conference planning committee

Ideas that received the most interest were "Marketing on a shoestring", grant writing, OK-Share information, and adaptive technology in libraries and ADA. UCD would like to sponsor two sessions plus keep the paper and poster sessions. Public relations and the adaptive technology received the most interest. Another topic of interest was the "buried treasures" that exist in libraries across the state. This program would explain how to find these items.

1. Poster and Presentations. The flyer is out and there are links on the OLA and UCD pages. Two proposals have been submitted so far. David Oberhelman is aware of others in the works.
   

Workshop Planning Committee

1. Fall Workshop. October 19 at the Health Sciences Center Library. Repeat of the Spring 1999 Workshop. Things are looking good.
2. Spring 2000 workshop. The committee has agreed on Contracts and Licensing especially with electronic journals. This workshop is tentatively scheduled for March 9, 2000. Jon will look into the possibility of the Automation Roundtable coming aboard as a co-sponsor. A possible location is the Stillwater Public Library.
   

Salary Survey Committee - 1999-2000

 

Report by Barbara Bradley. The surveys are out. Samples were distributed to the members. The deadline on this is Sept. 24. She plans to send out reminders about one week prior to the deadline.

Nominating Committee - 1999-2000

Deadline for nominations is Dec. 15.

Sites for next meetings

Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999 1:30 at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999 at a metro OKC site to be determined.
