SRRT Workshop: How to Overcome Our Biases

Register now for the Social Responsiblities Roundtable's 2016 workshop, How to Overcome Our Biases: Candid Conversations for Oklahoma Librarians. Scheduled for Friday, November 4 at the McAlester Public Library, this workshop will examine how we all address our prejudices. Register for the 2016 Festival of Books

The Oklahoma Library Association is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2016 Mildred Laughlin Festival of Books for Young People. This important biennial event is designed to celebrate quality literature and enhance the critical evaluation and enjoyment of children's and young adult literature by both librarians and educators as well as the children and teens they serve in Oklahoma. The Festival will be held on Thursday, October 27 at the Broken Arrow campus of Northeastern State University. Deadline to register is October 24. Register today!

"Engaging with Teens in the Library" Workshop - Register TODAY!

Register now for "Engaging with Teens in the Library: The Good, the Bad, and the Awkward", sponsored by the Public Library Division (PLD). Learn about positive conflict resolution, dealing with teens in difficult personal situations, and issues surrounding unattended teens in the library. The workshop is scheduled for Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Northwest Library in Oklahoma City. Registration Deadline is September 16. TSRT Fall Workshop: "TechKnow Services"

Registration is now open for the Technical Services Roundtable's Fall Workshop, "TechKnow Services: Tech Topics for Technical Services" at the Stillwater Public Library on Friday, October 28. This important workshop will provide you with the opportunity to learn about different kinds of free, open source, budget-friendly and commonly used resources for technical services. We will teach you how to use the Library of Congress and MARC websites to help you catalog, the differences and similarities in using the OCLC Client vs. Browser while cataloging, and how to use data editing software MarcEdit and OpenRefine to batch modify records. OLA 2017 - Call for Session Proposals

OLA 2017, the 110th Annual Conference of the Oklahoma Library Association, will be held April 24-26, 2017 at the National Center for Employee Development in Norman, Oklahoma.

Do you have an idea for a session at the Conference? Submit a session proposal by October 7, 2016. This is your opportunity to reach out to your community through creative programing and outreach tactics, and by practicing ethical and socially responsible librarianship; reach higher by learning about and implementing the latest technology, tools, and techniques; and reach across by learning to advocate for libraries in your community and beyond.
