Joe Raiola, senior editor of Mad Magazine, will present a humorous, but informative and rousing, review of censorship with special focus on current censorship concerns in light of 9/11 and subsequent activity.
Joe Raiola is a comedy writer, an actor, a director, a public speaker, and a radio show co-host. He graduated from Adelphi University and has spent nearly 25 years in various venues that have highlighted his social satire and his humor. He has done one-man shows, directed improvisational workshops, produced magazine spoofs, appeared in regional theaters throughout the U.S., and delivered his humorous defense of the First Amendment to professional conferences and colleges.

Table Talks Are:
Fun, interactive discussion groups intended to stimulate conversation and allow discussion among all of those attending. Participants are encouraged to enjoy visiting with all those attending while participating in informal discussions centered on topics of current interest to our profession, sharing ideas, concerns, and best practices. Speakers will answer questions. Pick up lunch to go from the Decco Restaurant, Tiffany Rose Pasta Bar or Starbucks.

Come meet Dayna Dunbar, author of The Saints and Sinners of Okay County, the 2006 Oklahoma Reads Oklahoma book. Dayna will share her inspiration for the story as well as discuss the book with the audience. She will also be sharing her new book, a sequel to Saints and Sinners. One Book-One Conference (Thursday) and One Book-One Conference (Friday) are duplicate sessions.

The Gates Foundation may be offering a grant to Oklahoma in 2006-07 to improve and meet the needs of Spanish speakers. Grant resources would train the staff and equip the library with resources. Come to this table talk and give Pat suggestions of what Oklahoma needs to request from the Gates Foundation.
