Planning for Retirement & Charitable Giving

Sponsors: Endowment Ad Hoc Committee, FOLIO

The first part of the program will focus on investing and planning for retirement. The second part of the program will focus on charitable giving before retirement and during one's retirement years through gifts of stocks, bequests, trusts, life insurance, and other aspects of giving.

Speakers: Patsy Gaberino Carey and Sandy Ellison.

Patsy Gaberino Carey was recently ranked by Barron's as one of the top 100 women financial advisers in the country. She is a broker with Smith Barney in Oklahoma City and has built a business that manages $410 million. Patsy has also built a support staff of associates that she considers to be one of the top wealth management teams in the country. Her portfolio includes wealthy clients, as well as those of more moderate means who are serious about financial planning.

Sandy Ellison, a Public Library Consultant for the Oklahoma Department of Libraries from 1971 --1997, traveled over 250,000 miles, the same distance as it is to the moon. Sandy admits that her job was rewarding, but it was her interest in playing golf and her hobby of collecting "glass telephone insulators" that influenced her and made her decide to plan for an early retirement. She had many goals to pursue! Sandy has been recognized as a library leader by being designated an Oklahoma Library Legend.

Of interest to all librarians, support staff, and managers, trustees, and members of FOLIO.
