The Kennedy Library of Konawa, Inc. is open to both the school and the public. It has served both the school and the community since its construction in 1991. When the present school buildings were constructed during the 1970s, Konawa Public School housed its elementary library in what has since become the CCC computer lab and the junior/senior high library in what is currently the vocational business lab. Thanks to several generous benefactors and motivators, it became possible to build a new library which could serve both the school and the community. Having a public library on a school campus provides an opportunity to serve the unique needs of both.
The Kennedy Library was built in 1991. The architect for the project was Locke Wright and Associates. A significant addition to the facility occurred in 1999 when the children’s library and the Dougan Conference Center were added. This project allowed for the remodeling of existing space to provide an archive room, the genealogy room, and a small kitchen. The resulting library building is a tremendous asset, both to the school and the community. The Dougan Conference Center is available for community use. The Konawa Genealogy and Historical Society of Seminole County is housed in the newly remodeled wing of the library. This active society works to preserve Seminole county’s aging court records, many of which date to early statehood. With the assistance of volunteers, original records are copied, categorized and documented.

The children’s reading area is spacious enough for storytelling, children’s programs, and reading areas. The Kennedy Library of Konawa contains approximately 13,000 volumes. The library provides computer access to students of Konawa Public School and the community. There are 13 iMacs and 4 Windows stations. Services include Internet access, word processing, card catalog browsing, and a variety of educational software titles.
