was organized. Carnegie funds were used for the building and
650 books were solicited for the shelves by women’s clubs.
One time, a little later, in order to get more books, a soda
fountain day was held. The library received a percentage of
the day’s receipts at fountains manned by library friends,
and sodas were drunk to such an extent that 17 new books could
be bought. These started a rental shelf which provided funds
for new books and supplies for the next fourteen years. |
