Arkoma Public Library

1975

Arkoma’s first library opens to the public in February. The library is
housed in a 40 year old building.
1987 Groundbreaking for the future new library building in August.
1988 The library gets their first copier in May.
1990 New library opens for business in January. In October the library receives
a new computer through a grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries, and in December receives its first fax machine through an ODL grant.
1997 An increase in the ad valorem tax to 4 mills is approved by Arkoma voters
in March. In June the library implements a summer reading outreach program in the Pocola area. In September the library gains access to the internet.
1998 In January the library expands the hours it is open for business.
