1966 |
Library
service came to Eufaula through bookmobile furnished by EODLS. |
| 1971 |
Eufaula
City Library opened on January 31st at 116 S. First on a two
year
trial. Margaret Whinnen was the librarian. The library was funded
by the
state.
On December 7th voters of McIntosh County decided to continue
library service by approving a two mill tax levy. |
| 1980 |
The library
was moved to the National Guard Armory for three months.
Marguerite Schmitt was librarian. |
| 1981 |
The library
was moved once again into a double wide mobile home
located at 272 Broadway. |
| 1983 |
On May
24th fundraising to build a new library was kicked off with
a
$100 a plate banquet.
On December 6th groundbreaking was held for the new Eufaula
Memorial Library at 301 S. First. |
| 1984 |
Construction
began on the new library in April. |
| 1985 |
Library
moved into the new building on July 15th.
On August 23rd the Eufaula Memorial Library was dedicated. |
| 1986 |
Eufaula
Literacy Council was formed. |
| 1988 |
Eufaula
FOLIO was organized. |
| 1995 |
On March
12th voters of McIntosh County passed an additional two
mills bringing the tax support for the library to four mills.
The Eufaula Masonic Lodge presented the library with a $6,234.26
check for automation. Automation came to the library on September
1st. |
| 1997 |
The library
becomes a member of the Eufaula Telecommunication Center. |
