City Council
recognized library service and made the first appropriation

buy books. |

The library
is organized under the Oklahoma Library Commission with
Mrs. Earl Fry appointed librarian. |

Mrs. Cora
Lipe appointed librarian. Mrs. Lipe served as librarian for
23
years. |

Mrs. Warren
C. Barnes appointed librarian. |

Mrs. Albert
Philippe appointed librarian. |
| 1961 |
In April
celebrated National Library Week by beginning drive for funds
to
build the new library. On August 29th construction of the building
begins at
a cost of $20,000. |
| 1962 |
On August
23rd the building is occupied. On November 11th the formal
opening of the 50 by 50-foot building is observed with an open
house.
There were 15,000 volumes on the shelves in the new library
when it opened. |
| 1963 |
Purchased
air conditioner for $50 which is still being used to cool the
library. |
| 1979 |
Sandy Ellison
told the librarian that we qualified for state aid. |
| 1980 |
Library
board started meeting four times a year. The first state aid
money
was received and a special purpose grant was applied for. |
| 1982 |
A $1,000
grant was received for the library. |
