On
February 2nd the doors of the Kansas Public Library were opened
for
the first time. On April 3rd the library sponsored an egg hunt
in City Park for children.National Library Week was celebrated
from April 11th to 17th, culminating in an open house from 1
to 4 p.m. on the 17th. Guests were Sen. Rick Littlefield, Rep.
Larry Adair, and Marilyn Hinshaw, the EODLS director.
On May 22nd a hog fry in City Park was held as a fundraiser
for the library.
The first Summer Reading Program , “Readerosaurus”,
was held with storytellers, Sharon Hannon and Mary Ellen Wilkerson
and her dog Duncan. Deanna Smith, the Jay Library librarian,
assisted with crafts.
In October Halloween parties were hosted for Kansas Elementary
School students. In November a Book and Bake Sale was held on
the 6th to raise funds for the library. |
