Committee Charge

The Committee's responsibility is to coordinate OLA's legislative involvement, promptly communicate with the officers and membership about state or federal legislation concerning Oklahoma libraries, and encourage understanding and involvement of members in the legislative process.

Legislative Goals 2009

Support the Oklahoma Department of Libraries' budget request to:

Increase State Aid for Public Libraries by 10 cents per capita

Continue providing online research resources to all Oklahoma Citizens and Businesses

Replace Federal fund previously used to pay key State Library Staff

Support equal access to information for all Oklahomans
Keep library governance local
Ensure quality School Library programs for students staffed by certified Masters level Library Media Specialists
Protect and enhance existing tax base or revenue streams
