1st OLA GOLD logo, 2004The first GOLD Leadership Institute was held November 3rd - 6th, 2004 at the Noble Foundation in Ardmore, Oklahoma.  Twenty-four applicants were selected to participate representing academic, school and public libraries from across the state of Oklahoma.

Pat Wagner, of Pattern Research, led the seminar using her "Every Day Leadership" program.  Pat gave a highly interactive seminar built around a series of exercises where small groups of participants thought, wrote, talked, and solved problems regarding leadership issues.  The small groups then presented their solutions to the larger group.

Assisting Pat were six mentors.  These mentors were library leaders nominated by their peers and selected to work the participants both during and after the Institute.
