Stephen Abram, noted library futurist, will address the topic of trends and changes needed by libraries and librarians during the conference opening keynote speech.
Stephen Abram, MLS, is Past-President 2008 of SLA and the past-President of the Ontario Library Association and the Canadian Library Association. He received the 2011 CLA Outstanding Service to Librarianship Award in June 2011. He is the Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Markets for Cengage Learning (Gale). He was Publisher Electronic Information at Thomson after managing several libraries. Stephen was listed by Library Journal as one of the top 50 people influencing the future of libraries. Stephen has been listed by Library Journal as one of their first "Movers and Shakers" the 'key' people influencing the future of libraries and librarianship. He has been awarded the SLA's John Cotton Dana Award as well as being a Fellow of the SLA. He was Canadian Special Librarian of the Year and Alumni of the Year for the Faculty of Information Studies at the University of Toronto. He speaks internationally on innovation as well as authoring Stephen's Lighthouse, a popular blog for libraries and librarianship. He is the author of ALA Editions' bestselling Out Front with Stephen Abram.
