Where Support Staff Make All the Difference

Want to know what kinds of job opportunities are available for library staff in the areas of access services and technical services? Parker Atkins (OCU) will talk about all the possibilities available in acquisitions, cataloging, and digital services. Joanne Huff (WOSC) will describe how support staff handle circulation, technology support, interlibrary loan, reshelving, and reserves.
Parker Atkins has over seventeen years of experience in support staff roles in technical services. He is a long time member of OLA and ALA, and has presented at workshops for the technical Services Round Table and Amigos. He has assisted with various aspects of cataloging and acquisitions, and will share insights on various traditional and nontraditional roles played by support staff.
Joanne Huff has held the position of Library Technical Assistant since 2002, where her duties include serials management, AV equipment, staff scheduling, circulation system management (patron records & overdue items), reserve items, statistics (monthly and yearly), and inventory and capitalization reports. She is also instrumental in training new employees.
