Safety in the Stacks: Developing Safety Procedures and Training in the Academic Library

Staff from ECU’s Linscheid Library will discuss developing, obtaining buy-in for, and training staff on safety procedures in academic libraries.
Chelsea Baker, Instructional Services Librarian, ECU Human Diversity Committee Chair, Linscheid Library, East Central University
Chelsea enjoys working with all aspects of public services, and has overseen circulation, reference, and instruction for the past three years. In all of her duties, she strives to position the library as a partner and a resource for student learning, both in the eyes of students and faculty. Outside of the library, Chelsea chairs the ECU Human Diversity Committee, facilitating policy changes and public programming to foster understanding and acceptance of human diversity both on campus and in the community. Chelsea received her MLIS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her BA in anthropology from Oberlin College.
Jolene Poore, Circulation Assistant, Linscheid Library, East Central University
Jolene joined East Central University’s Linscheid Library Team as the Circulation Assistant in the fall of 2011. She holds a BA in art and an MS in human resources, both from East Central University. Prior to her academic library career, she filled many roles, including project/event management, economic development and human resources, all at the corporate level. However, her driving passion has always been to help people learn, grow and achieve. She currently adjuncts at both the graduate and undergraduate level and serves as the president of the Pontotoc County Literacy Coalition.
