Mildred Laughlin Festival of Books for Young People: 2014 Festival

The 2014 Mildred Laughlin Festival of Books was held on October 30, 2014 at Northeastern State University Broken Arrow Campus in Broken Arrow, OK.  Attendees met notable bestseller Megan McCafferty, selected New Voice author Mike Mullin and artist, illustrator Ard Hoyt.

Photo of Megan McCaffertyMegan McCafferty is author of the “Jessica Darling’s It List” series beginning with Sloppy Firsts which was ALA Top 10 Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers, an ALA Popular Paperback, and a New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age. Its sequel, Second Helpings was also selected to the NYPL list, and was a Booklist Editor’s Pick for one of the best novels of 2003. Charmed Thirds was an instant New York Times bestseller and a NYPL pick. Forth Comings and Perfect Fifths also made the New York Times, USA Today, Publisher’s Weekly, Booksense, Barnes and Noble, Borders and other national bestseller lists. McCafferty is working on a series of middle-grade prequels for this series starting with Jessica Darling’s It List: The (Totally Not) Guaranteed Guide to Popularity, Prettiness & Perfection with the second book, List 2: The (Totally Not) Guaranteed Guide to Friends, Foes & Faux Friends publishing this fall. Mike Mullin's debut title, Ashfall was named one of the top five young adult novels of 2011 by National Public Radio, a Best Teen Book of 2011 by Kirkus Reviews, and a New Voices selection by the American Booksellers Association.
