Kay Boies Retires as OLA Executive Director

Retirement Luncheon for Kay Boies

On April 18, 2017 OLA Executive Director Kay Boies announced that she would retire at the end of June after more than 33 years on the job.

On June 29, 18 of OLA's Past President's honored Kay with a luncheon at OU's Faculty House.  Anne Masters (OLA President from 1977-78) served as Master of Ceremonies.

Kay received a basket of flowers, which included quite a collection of cards, one from each of the Past Presidents.

Susan McVey (1987-88) presented Kay with a certificate, signed by everyone there, declaring her an Oklahoma Library Association Honorary Past President.

Current OLA President Melody Kellogg then presented Kay with a retirement check on behalf of the Past Presidents and the entire Association, thanking her for her years of hard work and dedication to OLA, and to Oklahoma's libraries and its librarians.

Finally, the group drank a toast to Kay and joined in a rousing chorus of "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow"!

The group then posed for a "formal" portrait with the honoree.

Past Presidents of OLA 

Kay says that she and her husband have lots of plans for their retirement, starting with a remodel of their home.  We all wish Kay the best of times and a very happy retirement!
