Photo of Dee Ann RayDee Ann Ray holds a BA in Modern Languages from Tulsa University (1959) and MLS from University of Oklahoma (1960). Worked for Oklahoma State Library as Field Consultant from 1960-1963; Missouri State Library as Director of Demonstration Services from 1964 through May of 1966; Custer-Washita Demonstration starting May 1966 which resulted in Western Plains Library System.

Dee Ann worked with 27 library elections, including successful Tulsa City-County when she was on loan from ODL to Allie Beth Martin.

Ray has been a member of the Oklahoma Library Association for 52 years. She attended her first OLA Meeting in 1957 when the group celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Ray was honored by OLA with the Distinguished Service Award. She served as Treasurer and President of OLA. She is a Paul Harris Fellow ; Clinton’s Citizen of Year for 1980; holds Kiwanis Community Service Award; is an Honorary Colonel in the Oklahoma National Guard; given Diana Award for State of Oklahoma in 1986 by Beta Sigma Phi Sororities; named to Western Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Dewey County Hall of Fame in 1988; worked on Oklahoma Image Project; was program chair for 1978 Oklahoma Governor’s Conference on Libraries; named as Congressional delegate to 1990 White House Conference on Libraries; served on Caldecott/Newberry Award Committee in 1976; served on ALA Council from 1975-78; and chaired just about every committee of OLA. Served as Co-Chair of the City of Clinton Centennial Committee in 2003; twice chaired the Clinton Regional Hospital Board; elected to 12 years on the Oklahoma Historical Society Board, and has aided in many historical endeavors. Ray also has been given two awards by the Oklahoma Heritage Association for her historical articles and slide/tape shows.
