OLA 2015: Children's Author Luncheon: Gwendolyn Hooks

This author will describe her journey in publishing books for young children.

Gwendolyn HooksGwendolyn Hooks is the author of 19 books for children. She writes for diverse publishers such as the South Korean publisher, Chunjae and Rourke Publishing. Her two Scholastic early readers sold over 100,000 copies each. In 2015, Lee and Low will publish Hooks’ picture book biography, The Incredible Life of Vivien Thomas-Saving Baby Hearts.

Gwendolyn blogs on The Brown Bookshelf to push awareness of the myriad of African American voices writing for young readers. The American Library Association selected The Brown Bookshelf as a Great Website for Kids.

Gwendolyn lives in Oklahoma City with her husband.
