OLA 2015: ALA President’s Forum

Join ALA President, Courtney L. Young as she updates our conference attendees on the current state of the American Library Association, her Presidential Initiatives, and the association's current strategic plan, ALA2015, which identifies five goals for the association and its envisioned future: a world where libraries, both physical and virtual, are central to lifelong discovery and learning and where everyone is a library user. The session will also feature a Q&A opportunity.

ALA President Courtney L. YoungCourtney L. Young is the 2014-2015 American Library Association (ALA) President. She is currently Head Librarian and Professor of Women’s Studies at Penn State Greater Allegheny. An active leader in ALA, she has served on the Executive Board (2009-2012), Council (2005-present), and as President of the New Members Round Table (2009-2010). In 2011, Courtney was named a Library Journal "Mover& Shaker", recognized as a Change Agent for her ability to successfully make connections among a diversity of duties in her library, on campus, and in the profession. She graduated from the College of Wooster in Ohio with a B.A. in English and minors in Black Studies and Women's Studies.  She received her M.S. in Library Science from Simmons College. Courtney frequently presents and publishes on issues related to academic librarianship, diversity, virtual reference, leadership, and professional development.
