PowerPoint Presentation: Floor Plan Design: Maximizing Potential & Dodging Potholes (PDF)
In far too many libraries, the shelves are overloaded, the signage is inadequate and the layout of the floor plan is confusing. Often the library directors involved are doing the very best they can in extremely limited facilities. But, even in limited facilities, there are some extremely important principles to remember as you approach the layout of your library. In this presentation, Craig will offer some helpful hints in how to best utilize the floor and wall space you have.
For 25 years Craig Tappe worked in fields ranging from mortgage officer to insurance, to full time ministry. During that time, He served as Mayor, City Council Member, Planning and Zoning Member, and a number of other roles which gave him the experience of working on both sides of the non-profit equation. Now Craig is in the library furniture business where he is able to apply all of the non-profit experience as well as techniques he learned in dealing with people through the years. Along the way, he has invaluable insights as to what it takes to make non-profits successful.
