OLA 2015: Net Neutrality

Colin Rhinesmith, OU-LIS Prof will educate us about net neutrality and then tell us ways we can advocate for it.

Colin RhinesmithColin Rhinesmith is an Assistant Professor of Social and Community Informatics at the University of Oklahoma School of Library and Information Studies and an Adjunct Research Fellow with New America’s Open Technology Institute in Washington, D.C.  Rhinesmith received his Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS)-funded Information in Society Fellow.  Rhinesmith has been a Google Policy Fellow with the New America Foundation’s Open Technology Institute in Washington, D.C.  He was also a Summer Institute Fellow with the Digital Media and Learning Research Hub, hosted at Microsoft Research New England, organized by the University of California Humanities Research Institute, and supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.  Rhinesmith has been nationally recognized as a leader within the field of community media and technology.  His work has been mentioned by the Federal Communications Commission, PBS MediaShift, and the MacArthur Foundation’s Spotlight on Digital Media and Learning, and he was awarded the 2010 Buske Leadership Award from the Alliance for Community Media.
