Genre-fying Your Library

Session Description

A presentation of the process of selecting the genres to use and reorganizing the shelves to display them in a 7th - 12th school collection. A look at options for searching for the genres in the OPAC by adding tags to the marc records.

Session Objective

Librarians considering genre shelving will be able to see the process and get ideas for the genres they will choose for their collection and implementing the project in their library.

Mrs. Lofton is a Media Specialist in a small rural district with a passion for young adult literature. She received a BA in English, OSU Stillwater, and worked in accounting and sales for many years. She earned an MS in Library Media and Information Technology from NSU in 2008. She worked as an elementary librarian for Muskogee Public Schools before coming to Liberty Public Schools in 2009.
