Teen Summit
12:30-4:30 pm
Sponsored by OKSL, Sequoyah, and CATS

Session Description:

The Teen Summit is an afternoon of collaboration between school, public, and academic librarians who work with teens. This year’s Summit is all about one of the fastest-growing trends in libraries: the makerspace. To help teen librarians create fun and meaningful maker experiences, the Teen Summit features speakers from the Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers’ Future City competition, the OSU Extension Office, and keynote speaker Leslie Preddy, as well as guided discussion and collaboration time. The Teen Summit will give teen librarians the opportunity to make valuable connections, hear about the most exciting new maker opportunities, and join forces to create a fun and functional makerspace to better serve their teens.

Session Objectives:

  • Participants in this session will:
  • Hear about the newest and most innovative trends in teen makerspaces
  • Make valuable connections with other teen librarians from across the region
  • Receive resources for implementing or building upon a teen makerspace in their own library
  • Collaborate with public, school, and academic librarians from their area to improve services to teens
