Meet Your New AASL National School Library Standards

Please note that pre-conferences require separate registration and are not part of the conference registration.

Full registration includes a copy of National School Library Standards for Learners, School Librarians, and School Libraries, a $199 value.  Reduced registration is available for those who have their own copy.

The new AASL National School Library Standards have been released. Attendees will receive tools and materials to help implement the new standards and to use these standards to advocate for their school library programs.

Cherity Pennington


Cherity Pennington is the library media specialist for Shawnee Middle School, and was the 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year for Shawnee Public Schools. In 2017, she successfully advocated for all school libraries in her district to be fully staffed. She is serving as the current chair of OKSL.



Barbara Ray


Dr. Barbara Ray has been in library education for over 30 years.  She spent 15 years as a school librarian in elementary, middle school, and high school libraries; and 15 years teaching library master’s courses at Northeastern State University.  She has served as Director of Region VI for the American Association of School Librarians and currently is on the committee for the new accreditation standards for national school library programs and is the affiliate delegate representing Oklahoma school librarians at AASL.

Amanda Kordeliski

Amanda Kordeliski is the Teacher Librarian at Norman North High School. Ms. Kordeliski joined the North faculty in the fall of 2016, following 6 years as the teacher librarian at Irving Middle School. At Irving, she was named Site Teacher of the Year and was a district teacher of the year finalist. Ms. Kordeliski is a recipient of the Oklahoma School Librarian Technology in Education Award and the Polly Clarke Award, which recognizes the most outstanding school librarian in the state of Oklahoma. She participated in the NHD/ABMC Understanding Sacrifice: War in Northern Europe and Understanding Sacrifice: War in the Mediterranean. She has presented on history, technology and librarianship nationally at ALA Annual and AASL and is the current chair-elect for Oklahoma School Librarians. Ms. Kordeliski has published articles in Knowledge Quest and YALS and currently serves on the editorial board for YALS. She is a teacher trainer for the Guided Inquiry Design research process. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Oklahoma.
