2018 OLA Annual Conference Program Proposal Form

The 2018 Annual Conference will be held on Monday, April 23, through Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa, 100 S. 2nd St., Tulsa, OK.

2018 Annual Conference Goals

Attendees will have opportunities to:

  1. Learn to utilize new technologies in their work
  2. Learn practical skills that will help them in their work
  3. Meet, communicate with, and form relationships with other library personnel
  4. Participate in entertaining activities
  5. Be exposed to speakers who provide inspiration and affirmation at every level

General Information

  • Program sessions will be 60 minutes.
    • Questions and answers must be included in this time frame.
    • If requesting more than 60 minutes, provide specific reasons as to why extended time is required.
  • Rooms will be set up auditorium style.
    • If requesting a different room setup, provide specific reasons as to why the setup is required.
  • Each session room will be equipped with a laptop, LED projector, and screen if available.
    • If requesting additional technology, provide specific reasons as to why the technology is required.
    • Internet service is not guaranteed in session rooms.
  • Requests for extended times, alternate room setups, or additional technology will be evaluated based on availability of the requested resources.

In order to be considered for presentation

  1. Proposals must be submitted using this form.
  2. The deadline for OLA DRoCs to submit proposals is October 13, 2017.  Requests submitted after this date will not be considered.
  3. Each proposed program must address at least one of the conference’s stated goals.
  4. Individuals working in libraries in Oklahoma or members of OLA will not be compensated for presenting programs.
  5. Vendors wishing to present programs must also purchase booth space in the vendor exhibit hall.
  6. A budget request is required for all requests for pre-conferences AND for any program for which speakers are to be compensated.

A program proposal does not guarantee that the program will be accepted and presented at the Annual Conference.  The OLA Program Committee will select programs to be presented based on the following criteria:

  1. Conference goals met by the program
  2. Anticipated audience
  3. Available space
  4. Potential cost
