The Oklahoma Library Association will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Sequoyah Book Award in 2009 and we want you to be a part of the celebration.

The 50th Anniversary committee invites you to vote for your favorite Sequoyah Award winning book as a child (if you can remember back that far) and as a librarian.  You can find a list of the award winning titles at http://www.oklibs.org/sequoyah/winners.htm  (Yes, you can have a children’s favorite AND a Young Adult favorite).  Email your votes to Lynda Reynolds, Chair of the Sequoyah 50th Anniversary Ad-Hoc Committee, at Sequoyah50@yahoo.com

We also invite you to tell us about your Sequoyah experiences from when you participated as a child and/or from when you promoted the award to your students or library patrons.  You can email your stories to Lynda Reynolds at Sequoyah50@yahoo.com and they may be used in the promotion of the anniversary.

The 2009 OLA conference (April 20-22, 2009) at the Reed Conference Center in Midwest City will have many events dedicated to the celebration of the Sequoyah 50th Anniversary.  Check the OLA website in the future for more information: http://www.oklibs.org/
