In attendance:

I. Reports:

Danny has successfully submitted 2 programs to the Program Committee for 2008 conference. ADA compliance needs to be resubmitted to the Committee.

II. Open Issues:

Two agenda items were discussed in the meeting: planning for a fall 2008 workshop and LED
sponsorship of the student worker program for the annual OLA conference.

A. Workshop Planning

In the previous meeting, Barbara suggested we move the workshop schedule from spring to fall so that the LED group can plan and work on the workshop throughout spring and summer. The group discussed possible time in fall 2008 to have the work shop. The group didn’t reach consensuson the exact time to hold the workshop.

Roy will help us to prepare the topic of course management. We need to find speakers to talk about collaborative instruction. Barbara Ray suggested we can have a 3-person panel on the issue. After a brief discussion, the group has decided this workshop will focus on the aspect of practice in collaborative instruction. More information to follow.

B. Student worker program

The group had a brief discussion on student worker program. The idea of the program was to get students enrolled in library school to work at OLA conference and they will get a free day pass to attend LED or other programs at the conference. Danny stated his concern from the past experience was that the students might spend too much time doing the volunteer work without receiving serious content.

The group decided to pursue this issue as a possible LED initiative. Danny will take this topic to conference planning committee.

III. New business:

Barbara Miller suggested that we should consider putting articles in Oklahoma Librarians. The group discussed the types of articles LED might contribute to the publication. Short articles on information science, ways of recruitment, experience of getting certificate, book reviews, and other topics of interests were identified as possible publication.

IV. Adjournment:

Meeting was adjourned by Danny Wallace at 10:43 AM.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 4.
