OPPORTUNITIES TO CONTRIBUTE
Graduate Scholarship Fund: Scholarships to graduate students working toward an MLS are offered each year
Legislative Fund: Monies contributed to this fund are used to support library advocacy efforts
Ruth Brown Memorial Fund: Encourages and recognizes programming that addresses issues of social concern as they impact libraries, library collections and the communities serviced by these libraries
Endowment Fund: A project to raise money to provide office space for the association and to provide permanent income for operation of the association
Minority Conference Scholarship: Assistance to members of underrepresented groups who are currently employed as paraprofessionals or part-time library staff or working toward a library-related degree to attend the Annual Conference.
DIVISIONS
Library Education - a forum for those interested in library education to exchange ideas, expertise, and information.
Public Libraries - a forum for study and discussion of problems, activities, and coordination of services.
University and College - a forum for library personnel who serve academic communities.
ROUNDTABLES
Supervisors, Managers, Administrators - serves members interested in administration of all types of libraries.
Children and Teen Services (CATS) - supports library personnel serving children and teens.
Government Documents - provides information, training, and consultation in the acquisition, bibliographic control and the use of government documents.
Information Technology - promotes awareness of
practices, trends, and developments in technology and providing electronic information.
Social Responsibilities - encourages and recognizes the initiation and development of programs that seek to bring library service to individuals normally not served within a community.
Support Staff - aids in the professional growth of support personnel through continuing education and idea exchange.
Technical Services - studies the activities, problems, services and trends relating to acquisition, identification, cataloging and preservation of library materials.
COMMITTEES
Auditing - annually examines the financial records of the Association.
Awards – recommends individuals to be recognized for meritorious achievements in librarianship at the annual conference
Budget and Finance - prepares and submits to the Executive Board the budget for the fiscal year.
Career Recruitment and
Retention Committee - develops activities and projects to
further recruitment and retention to the library profession.
Constitution and Bylaws - prepares revisions to the Constitution and Bylaws as directed by the Executive Board and President.
Continuing Education - encourages and facilitates the development of high quality continuing education programs for the membership.
Ethics - endeavors to increase the awareness of ethical practices for OLA members.
Intellectual Freedom - protects the freedom of individuals to make their choice of library materials and brings restrictions in this area to the attention of the Executive Board.
Interlibrary Cooperation - serves to further cooperation of all types of libraries.
Legislative - coordinates the legislative activity of the Association.
Membership - carries out statewide promotional activities to encourage membership in OLA.
Nominating - selects a slate of candidates to run for office.
Program - selects the theme, speakers and all programs for the annual conference.
Resolutions - accepts, reviews, and presents resolutions for consideration by the Association membership.
Scholarship - disseminates information about the OLA Scholarship for Graduate Study, seeks and screens applicants and awards scholarships.
Sequoyah Book Award - implements the selection of the winning books and develops the guidelines for the program.
Sites - recommends to the Executive Board locations for the Annual Conference.
