Call to Order:

Secretary’s Report:  Carrie Fleharty submitted Minutes of January 20, and November 14, and changes were made and then approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Ellen Duecker submitted the report.  There was a question on when the money raised from the social would be deposited.  Ellen stated that she would contact Kay about this.

Reports:

Nominations are on-line.  Legislative Day is coming up.

Encyclo-Media Dates have changed to September 27-28.

Listserv is a tool to provide information about workshops available.  Workshops are being attended, and it seems that people are being freed up to attend these workshops.

Discussion took place about the article in the NEA Today.  They have lots of good stuff about reading, but nothing about libraries, and what libraries can do for reading improvement.  Another discussion took place about National Board Candidates not being involved in their professional organization.  What can we do about that?  We also talked about how to promote ourselves with resource based teaching, and collaborative units.

Legislative Issue:  The Ad Valorem Tax is being looked at by legislatures.  While we don’t want to lose this very important tax base, we would support putting a limit on properties owned by people 65 and older.

TOY (Teacher of the Year) Battle continues.  Discussion was made to the TOY Committee, (The 14 organizations), if a librarian could be a candidate for TOY.  We don’t do it was the answer.  We need to be in contact with these organizations to become a voice at the table.  That’s the only way to get this changed.

SLJ has corrected in a small paragraph the standards listed for Oklahoma’s LMS, but was asked of Buffy to see if the ALA Assembly could check on standards from SLJ.

We agreed to Review Standards, send to others and work on rubric of standards.

OLA is coming up, and we will need help with baskets and working the OLA Booth.
