Reports:

Jayme reported that OASLMS was looking into the issue of Teacher of the Year could be Teacher of the Year, and that AASL had developed a position statement of such. Many more librarians need to be aware of and apply for awards. The jurors for the awards have been freed up so that they could be read in a timely manner. During November 6 people were sent to Chicago for a National Board forum. Please attend a regional meeting in your area. The name change is still being looked at, and we are gathering more input.

Legislative: The House Bill 1480 can come back out of committee. We need a legislative liaison. Legislative Day was a success. Talk with your legislatures. Know your own field and understand the value of being a librarian. Be aware of the Colorado Study which is online, and share information with your principals, your superintendent and your legislature. Keep statistics on what you are doing.

AASL Report: Buffy Edwards reported that Oklahoma was not alone. Other states are having the same problem. Oklahoma wanted to have the AASL Conference in Oklahoma City, but there is a question of Conference space and accommodations.

Jayme also reported that there will be a workshop this summer 1, 2, 3..Energy! will be August 5th and sponsored by OASLMS. Sequoyah YA is having a workshop with Gary Paulsen July 28th, 29th. $1,966.00 was raised at the silent auction at the OLA social.

Jeanie Johnson reported that times are tough. We need to make lemonade. Get involved with your instructional team. Make it your mission to become an Information Literate Educator. Build advocacy groups with the use of the toolkits available to you from AASL. Join your professional memberships. No matter what position we have we must teach information Literacy. Standard VII is still in place and no standards have been officially waved. Encyclomedia is September 25th and 26th. We are seeking proposals at this time.

Jayme Awarded door prizes and reminded everyone about the OASLMS luncheon.

Meeting adjourned.
