Celebrating the
Centennial, 1907-2007 Established the same year Oklahoma became a State, the Oklahoma Library Association will celebrate its centennial year in 2007. Its membership -- over 1,000 strong -- is represented in school, public, academic, and special libraries around the state and shares a common mission "to strengthen the quality of libraries, library services, and librarianship in Oklahoma." Through a donation or planned gift, donors can reach across decades to touch future generations to ensure these goals are realized. The aim of the Oklahoma Library Association Centennial Endowment Campaign is to raise $1 million by 2007, when OLA will officially celebrate its 100th anniversary. $750,000 will be designated as endowment funds and $250,000 will be to establish a headquarters for the Association. Giving will . . . create a permanent source of funds which will: --Provide guaranteed income to sponsor nationally prominent speakers for OLA conferences, workshops, seminars and other educational opportunities for librarians --Support the administration of the Oklahoma Library Association --Allow the Association to respond quickly to new opportunities to forge partnerships and address critical challenges --Fund scholarships --Foster greater innovation in continuing education opportunities in Oklahoma Libraries.
