Description: While libraries have evolved into being a place for more than just books, for children and teens is it critical to their educational and emotional development to continue to read for pleasure. Many librarians in school and public settings, have to wear many hats, and traditional library services like book talking and getting youth excited about reading can come second to other needed services. The reason for offering this workshop is to share best practices for book talking with colleagues, to allow librarians and library workers to practice book talking skills, and to help empower them with the knowledge of new children’s and teen titles to take back and share with their patrons.
