Oklahoma School Librarians
OKSL is excited to announce an innovative approach to professional development for Oklahoma School Librarians.
OKSL will launch a unique web course, Understanding the Shared Foundations in the Learner Framework, in January 2019. The web course, designed to provide one hour per week of professional development on the new AASL/Oklahoma School Library Standards, will utilize the online platform Schoology. Librarians may access, view and participate on their own schedule, and rolling enrollment in the course will be accepted until February 15th. Course must be completed by March 10th to receive professional development credit. Upon completion of the course, librarians will receive 7 PD hours (.84 CEU)
The cost is only $30 for OLA members.
Learners will, at the completion of the entire web course:
- understand each of the six shared foundations (Inquire, Include, Collaborate, Curate, Explore and Engage) from the learner framework of the new AASL/Oklahoma Standards.
- incorporate and apply the new standards into existing lesson plans
- collaborate with others in the web course to improve current lesson plans
- collaborate with others in the web course to design new units of study with the standards
Entire web course will be accessible via Schoology and is password protected.
Each week will include a 30-minute online lecture and 30-45 minutes of discussion and sharing on the topic message board.

Week Two: Available week of Jan. 21 Topic: Include
Week Three: Available week of Jan. 28 Topic: Collaborate
Week Four: Available week of Feb. 4 Topic: Curate
Week Five: Available week of Feb. 11 Topic: Explore
Week Six: Available week of Feb. 18 Topic: Engage
Week Seven: Available week of Feb. 25 Topic: Wrap Up, share lesson plans, feedback
