The Librarian’s Guide to Understanding and Using the Dawes Rolls

Date: April 5, 2013
Time: 2:45-5:00 p.m.
Sponsors: Government Documents Roundtable and Tribal Libraries Committee

Kathy Huber, Tulsa City-County genealogy librarian, will demonstrate that it is not necessary to be a genealogist to be able to assist patrons with American Indian research using the Dawes Rolls.  The session will teach any librarian the steps needed to assist customers with their American Indian research.

Kathy Huber is the Genealogy Librarian for the Tulsa City County Library. She manages Tulsa’s Genealogy Center. She coordinates monthly programs and events and plans the Family History Month series held each July. Huber has a MLS from the University of North Texas. She serves on the board of the Friends of the OHS Archives. She has taught genealogy classes for the Oklahoma Library Association, the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and has spoken to local societies. Huber has made presentations at the National Genealogical Society Conference and the Federation of Genealogical Societies Conferences. She was the 1998 recipient of the Richard S. Lackey Memorial Scholarship to attend the National Institute on Genealogical Research.
