Share |

Date: Friday May, 1
Time: 11:00 am - noon
Sponsor: FOLIO – Friends of Libraries in Oklahoma

This program will present recent building and renovation projects in which Friends contributed.  Information regarding these contributions and future endeavors will be featured.

Desiree WebberDesiree Webber is the Director of the Mustang Public Library.  Webber worked with her Library Board, Friends of the Library and City of Mustang for the successful passage of a bond issue that built a 7,200 square foot addition to the Mustang Library.  The addition was completed in November 2014 and includes a Children’s Library, Teen Space, and Education Room for programs and meetings.  Webber and Klepper collaborated with the architects on the “look” of the building addition and original space to create an appealing and user-friendly library.  Webber has worked in special, academic and public libraries since 1980.  She received her Masters in Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 1990.

Carolyn KlepperCarolyn Klepper currently serves as Vice President of the Friends of the Mustang Library.  She is a founding member and former President of the Friends of the Mustang Public Library, Inc. and has also served as President of FOLIO.  Recently, Klepper served on the Mustang Library Planning Committee and was actively involved in the 7,200 square foot addition to the Mustang Library.  The addition was completed in November 2014.  Klepper represented the Friends of the Library on the Planning Committee and helped to acquire a mural and special art features for the Children’s Library, a granite countertop for the Education Room,  along with other improvements in the main part of the Library so that the entire building had a “new look.” The Friends of the Library raised thousands of dollars for the expansion project and were major contributors to the success of the project. Klepper has a BS in Interior Design from the University of Central Oklahoma and manages her own interior design business.

Nancy HamlinNancy B. Hamlin, Head librarian, Patrick Lynch Public Library, Poteau

After completing high school, I attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 1970, my husband and I moved to Poteau, where I was a stay at home mom for many years.  I began working at Buckley Public Library, a branch of the Choctaw Nation Multi-County Library System, in January 1984 as interlibrary loan and children’s librarian. In 1989, I completed the Oklahoma Department of Libraries’ certification program with distinction and was a participant in OLA’s first OLA Gold Leadership Institute in November 2004.  On January 1, 2008, I was promoted to the position of head librarian at Buckley Public Library and now work at Poteau’s new library, Patrick Lynch Public Library, a branch of the Southeastern Public Library of Oklahoma.
