Share |

Date: Friday May, 1
Time: 11:00 am - noon
Sponsor: Supervisors, Managers, Administrators Roundtable (SMART)

Come hear the success Heather Thompson and Phil Clark have experienced in creating partnerships, increasing library usage and bringing awareness of libraries to the business community in the Pioneer Library System service area.  Learn practical ways to gain "a seat at the table" in your community.

Heather ThompsonAfter almost 10 years of working in the corporate world Heather Thompson took a leap of faith along with the “powers that be” of the Pioneer Library System to jump on board as one of two Business Outreach Coordinators covering Pottawatomie County and part of Cleveland County.  Since 2010 Thompson lives a dream of being surrounded by the smell of a library; having access to a never ending supply of books; making new friends wherever she goes and always, always being encouraged to talk in class or in front of a class.  She earned an Associate Degree in Diversified Studies from the Oklahoma City Community College which led to her current position of a Director on the OCCC Alumni Board.  She then went on to earn a Bachelor’s in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Central Oklahoma.  Since she likes to plan programming and educate the world, she serves on the Moore Chamber Business Development Committee and on the Annual Event Committee.  After a whirlwind stint of living in Moore, Heather and her family, including a fur baby, now live in Oklahoma City just a hop, skip and a jump from the SOKC Library.

Phil ClarkPhil Clark is the current Business Outreach Coordinator working out of the Norman Central Branch of the Pioneer Library System.  His areas of service include promoting business related services, managing collection resources and partnering with community organizations such as Chambers of Commerce and Technology Centers to implement programs and outreach to small business.  Phil came to PLS with over 17 years banking experience conducting numerous trainings in the areas of customer service and regulatory compliance.
