Session Description

Many academic librarians today are no longer waiting at the reference desk for patrons to come to us, but are going out to work with faculty and students on other parts of campus. This program will cover some of the ways in which the "embedded librarian" moves beyond the walls of the library to assist and collaborate with patrons on research, teaching. and other areas of academic life. Embedded librarians are helping demonstrate the value of libraries in higher education, and the strategies can be adapted to other library settings as well to show the impact of libraries on their larger communities.

Session Objective

To create a keen awareness of the importance of embedded librarians to the overall goals of the academic library and institution.
