Deborah Hunter

Deborah Hunter began working full-time as Case Manager at TCCL in June 2014. The hiring process was through our project partner, Family & Children's Services. At the time of the interviews, Deborah was a Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Specialist/Case Manager with Family & Children's Services. Her previous work experience related to the Case Manager position includes: Crossroads Clubhouse, a membership community promoting social and vocational well-being for adults with mental illness; case manager and Life Choices workshop provider at Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless.

Deborah spends time at all 24 library sites across Tulsa County. She is also available to library staff for consultation and advice via telephone and email at any time; her schedule is posted to the library's SharePoint site which is accessible by all library staff so they know where to contact her.

There is an assumption, even among our own staff that library customers who are homeless or suffer from mental illness are only using our temporary downtown branch Librarium. That is not the case. We have customers who are homeless and those who suffer from mental illness at almost 3/4 of our libraries.

Deborah is regularly in contact with local agencies and service providers to connect library customers with resources for housing, medical assistance, mental health assistance, transportation, food, clothing, and employment. She also assists customers with online assistance to access other resources, based on their needs and where they are in the County.
