Keynote session: Appreciative Imagination: Building from Strength to Inspiration and Action

Tuesday, April 24, 2018
9:15 AM – 10:15 AM
Promenade C-D

Appreciative inquiry moves away from traditional models of individual and organizational development that are based in correcting deficits and move towards approaches that identify strengths and patterns of positive outcomes. By focusing on stories of the organization-at-its-best we can identify strategies and characteristics that lead to proud accomplishments and thereby inspire continued performance and growth. By starting with "what works" we can build from our strengths to inspiration and action, thereby creating the futures we want for our libraries and user communities.

Lisa Janicke HinchliffeKeynote speaker Lisa Janicke Hinchliffe is Professor/Coordinator for Information Literacy Services and Instruction in the University Library at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is also an affiliate faculty member in the University’s School of Information Sciences. As the 2010-11 President of the Association of College and Research Libraries, she led the creation of the Value of Academic Libraries Initiative. Lisa has presented and published widely on information literacy, teaching and learning, the value of libraries, library assessment, program evaluation, and organizational innovation.
