Librarians as Architects: Building Information Literacy Scaffolding into Liaison Departments

This presentation will cover the history of information literacy scaffolding and the evolving nature of liaison librarians at East Central University's Linscheid Library. We will specifically examine how scaffolding has improved departmental partnerships and honed Linscheid Library's assessment procedures. All developed scaffolding documentation, including a full implementation handbook, will be provided to attendees to assist fellow academic librarians in the scaffolding integration process.

Calantha Tillotson

Calantha Tillotson is the Instructional Services Librarian at East Central University’s Linscheid Library. In this capacity, she oversees the Reference Desk, as well as information literacy instruction and assessment. In addition, she is honored to serve as the library liaison to the School of Business, English & Languages Department, and Human Resources Department.

Patrick Baumann

Patrick Baumann is currently the Media Services Librarian at East Central University in Ada, OK.  As a librarian at ECU, he is part of the instruction team, and is responsible for several academic liaison areas, including two that are involved in the library’s scaffolding program.  
Patrick has been a member of OLA since 2001, has been on a number of different committees, and has presented on various subjects, including the librarian’s role in student research, and copyright implications for libraries.
