About Kay Boies
Kay Boies served as the Executive Director for the Oklahoma Library Association from 1983-2017. During her almost 34 years on the job, Kay served with over 30 different presidents, assisting them with appointments, conference planning, workshop coordination, membership campaigns, fund raising, and all the little details that make a membership association of this type successful.
Kay worked with hundreds of volunteer contributors and committees, and cheerfully attended thousands of meetings all over Oklahoma. She worked more than “full-time” most weeks in her efforts to assist with workshops, projects, conferences, legislative activities, and in getting to know new members. Her goal was always to facilitate for its members the mission of OLA: “To strengthen the quality of libraries, library services and librarianship in Oklahoma.”
Kay always said she loved the opportunity to work with wonderful people and make lasting memories of successful projects. She remained enthusiastic about libraries and OLA until her death on August 24, 2019 at the age of 78.
