Information Matrix Camp, a camp for middle school students interested in the broad concepts of information, is a project co-sponsored by Rose State College and the Oklahoma Library Association.  The camp has been sponsored by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) six of the eight years.  During all of the eight years, the staff at the Rose State College Learning Resources Center and the Oklahoma Library Association Career Recruitment and Retention Committee have guided the camp and worked with libraries and librarians in Oklahoma City, Norman, Stillwater, and Tulsa to show the campers as many ways as possible how valuable information is to communities and society.

During the two years that the camp was not funded by the IMLS, Sharon Saulmon and Melissa Huffman worked with the OLA Endowment Committee and other entities to locate funding to make the camps a reality.   The help from the Endowment Committee continued OLA’s involvement in this camp and helped to encourage middle school students to look at a variety of information professions and to learn how libraries operate and what libraries can do for users.
